If you’ve ever struggled to master a musical instrument, spare a moment for the thousands of children who would love to perform with a professional orchestra. And now they can!
Grayshott Concerts, in partnership with Hampshire Music Service, are inviting up to 40 of the district’s most promising young string players (grades 2-8) to Grayshott on 18th February for a musical workshop and evening concert with the illustrious London Mozart Players.
“Applications are flooding in,” says artistic director Vivien Harrison, “so we’re preparing for a very exciting and inspiring day.”
To prove the popularity of the event, local supporters have been invited to ‘Sponsor a Young Musician’ by donating £50 for each youngster to raise funds to cover the staging costs.
“The response has been astonishing,” says organiser Peter Harrison. “We’ve never tried anything as challenging as this before but we’re well on the way to reaching our target.”
The day will be spent in a morning workshop in small groups with professional players from London Mozart Players followed by an afternoon rehearsal preparing for the evening performance starting at 7.00pm.
For the first time ever, tickets for the evening concert are FREE (with a retiring collection) and are ONLY available on-line from 15th January direct from the organisers at www.grayshottconcerts.co.uk.
