LMP Chamber, another branch of the LMP’s portfolio, appears in many formats using the rich and varied combinations of strings, woodwind and brass. The ensemble is made up from the wealth of experienced chamber players and soloists from within the orchestra and presents programmes of exciting, diverse and thrilling music for a variety of sized groups, from classical symphonies arranged for chamber ensembles to the gems of the chamber music repertoire suitable for all occasions and venues.
The LMP chamber present a thrilling programme of Brahms’s B flat string sextet, a rich and sonorous work composed in 1859 in the wake of the most tumultuous years of the young composer’s life, a new work by Geoffrey Hanson, composed specially for this festival and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir De Florence. This giant in the chamber repertoire expands the sextet to orchestral proportions, combining relentless energy, sheer romance, beautiful folk melodies and all leading to a breathless finale.
