Gibbons The Silver Swan
Strauss Four Last Songs
Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem
Crouch End Festival Chorus and the London Mozart Players present ‘Swan Song’, a programme reflecting the end of life and mourning.
Gibbons’s 17th-century madrigal Silver Swan is a brief and beautiful opening to this concert, before Strauss’s exquisite Four Last Songs, performed by Erica Eloff. The choir and BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Benjamin Appl conclude the concert with Brahms’s hauntingly beautiful Ein deutsches Requiem, written during the years following his mother’s death.
