The LMP return this year for their regular feature at the East Finchley Arts Festival. Over the years the LMP has premiered several works by the Festival Director, Geoffrey Hanson and this concert will include two of his works. The Clarinet Concerto played by the young prize winning Australian soloist Som Howie and the Odyssey performed by Sebastian Comberti, principal cellist of the London Mozart Players. We mark the 60th anniversary of the death of the quintessentially English composer, Gerald Finzi, with a performance of his Romance in E flat for orchestra and two of his part songs set off by Elgar and Stanford. This is a concert for lovers of English Music.

Crouch End Festival Chorus and the London Mozart Players present ‘Swan Song’, a programme reflecting the end of life and mourning.

Gibbons's 17th-century madrigal Silver Swan is a brief and beautiful opening to this concert, before Strauss’s exquisite Four Last Songs, performed by Erica Eloff. The choir and BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Benjamin Appl conclude the concert with Brahms's hauntingly beautiful Ein deutsches Requiem, written during the years following his mother's death.

Alongside this piece are solo performances by Lydia Carter (oboe) and Francesca Clayton (soprano), with the LMP, and a performance of Imogen Holst's orchestration of Britten's 'Rejoice in the Lamb'.

‘From Bach to the Bulgarian deep Bass’ – The London Festival of Bulgarian Culture

Svetlin Roussev – Leader of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France – is soloist in Haydn’s Violin Concerto in C and joins Ivo Stankov (Leader of Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra) for Bach’s Double Violin Concerto.

Other programme highlights include the world premiere of the first UK concerto for the Contrabass Clarinet – Soul Searching – by the award-winning Bulgarian/British composer and conductor Martin Georgiev, performed by soloist Scott Lygate.
