About the London Mozart Players
The London Mozart Players is Britain’s longest established chamber orchestra and celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2019. Throughout its history, the orchestra has delivered inspiring concerts both across the UK and globally, performing not only the core classical repertoire of Mozart and Haydn, but diverse and far-reaching programmes to new and existing audiences.
In 2014 the orchestra became player-led, both in management and artistically,. In this time, LMP has depended on donor, patron, trusts, foundations and engagements to ensure the financial security of the orchestra. The LMP continues to flourish with an ever-increasing schedule of events, and an exciting programme of own-promotion concerts for our 70th birthday year, including a series at SJSS, a return to the South Bank and a gala concert at Buckingham Palace hosted by our patron HRH Prince Edward.
LMP’s ground breaking residency in our new home in Upper Norwood has redefined what an orchestra can bring to a community, seen new investment from both the Arts Council and from Croydon Council, and has expanded its work with the young, disadvantaged, and newcomers to classical music through new innovative concert series and community programmes.
