Access to arts and culture can provide all these things, and yet so many children and young people simply don’t have the chance to experience the joy of hearing, playing and making music.
Building on our 30-year history of delivering education work in Croydon, LMP is working with a number of Education Ambassadors to help tackle the issue of young people not having ongoing access to arts education. At the forefront of the scheme are LMP Education Ambassadors Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jess Gillam, Matilda Lloyd and LMP Young-Artist-in-Residence, Leia Zhu.
Meet the Artists
We’re working with a number of young artists including Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jess Gillam, Matilda Lloyd and Leia Zhu, to help us deliver our work with schools. By providing peer role models from a diverse range of backgrounds, we know we can show young people that the arts really are for everyone.
Music education in schools
Building on our work locally in Croydon, we will continue to deliver an extensive programme of educational content that complements and enhances the national curriculum.
Music at home
Music plays a key role in early years development. We want to give more children and families the opportunity to access educational (and entertaining) musical content that will inspire children to learn and explore their own creativity.
Early careers support
Providing platforms for young, emerging artists has always been part of our work but has become increasingly important as the pandemic has made it harder for young musicians who are embarking on a new career. We also recognise that not everyone working in the creative arts will want to be centre stage, but need clearer career pathways into a wide range of roles in the creative industries.
