Julia Desbruslais wins prestigious award from the Association of British Orchestras
Everyone at LMP is thrilled and delighted that our recently retired Executive Director Julia Desbruslais was awarded the prestigious ABO Orchestra Manager of the Year Award at a ceremony in Glasgow last night, for her inspiring management of LMP during the pandemic. Julia worked tirelessly throughout 2020/21 from Day 1 of Lockdown to keep LMP busy. She galvanised the whole team to get creative, ensuring that our musicians had work and our audience had music and companionship. We are so thrilled and pleased for her, it’s such a brilliant accolade and recognition for all she achieved with LMP. It’s also LMP’s birthday today (11 February), so it’s the best present we could have wished for!
At the ceremony at the ABO conference Julia said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled and almost speechless to receive this award. It represents six years as Executive Director of the LMP. Perhaps one of the most wonderful things, particularly over this last couple of years, is the collaboration and relationships that have been built across the music sector, and I think this is one of the most important things going forward – that we all work together… I have the most incredible team at LMP and I have loved working with every one of them: from every musician in the orchestra to the Management Team to the LMP Friends to the Patrons and Trustees, and actually this award is for the whole orchestra. Thank you so very much.’
