What do you love about your instrument and why?
My instrument takes physical energy to play and commitment and confidence when performing. The colours it can produce along with the huge dynamic range is of great satisfaction to those of us who play this historical instrument. Even Tutankhamun had one buried with him so it must be fairly special!

Which player of your instrument do you most admire and why?

Maurice Andre – he’s the definitive player and consumate musician

What is your favourite piece of music and why?
I don’t have a favourite piece but music by Richard Strauss is difficult to beat.

What other types of music do you listen to?

Anything I haven’t heard before
